ELECTRIC VEHICLES : Lincoln plugs in!

Lincoln plugs in!

TopGear spoke and we listened. Following an electric vehicle challenge, Jeremy Clarkson and James May were dismayed not to find an electric charge point in Lincoln city centre – opting instead to create their own makeshift charge point at the city’s University.

Now the motoring duo will be pleased to hear that Nissan are funding a new charging installation in the city centre – and there’ll be one charging point dedicated to each presenter. Although most Nissan LEAF owners charge their cars at home, or work, the new sockets will allow people to ‘top up’ their charge when they’re out and about – and is perfect for people making longer journeys. It’s another great step forward for EV infrastructure in the UK, and forms a part of Lincoln’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

Top Gear’s Executive Producer, Andy Wilman, is pleased with the result, saying: ‘this is excellent news for the electric car community of Lincoln.’ The two presenters will be invited back to open the unit and charge their vehicles – and as always, the POD Point Charging Unit is free.
