Most Nissan LEAF owners recharge their cars at home. The 6.6kW charger option lets you charge your Nissan LEAF at home in just 4 hours using a 32A Home Charging Unit. The dashboard LEDs indicate the status of charging. Charging port illumination is standard on all grades, the Nissan LEAF Visia, Acenta and Tekna. To stop charging the lithium-ion battery of your Nissan LEAF, simply unplug the cable.

CHARGE FROM HOME

STANDARD ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING WITH THE NISSAN EVSE CABLE

 

Your Nissan LEAF comes with a 6 metre long Electric Vehicle Standard Equipment (EVSE) cable* allowing you to recharge your battery using a standard household socket** in about 10 hours. The cable can also be used at many public charging stations throughout the UK.

 

 

* If you have the upgraded 6.6kW on-board charger, you will receive a Mode 3 Type 2 cable in lieu of the EVSE cable which opens up access to a larger range of public charging stations.

** a standard domestic socket for home charging must be on a dedicated circuit and must meet all current regulations.

FREE HOME CHARGING UNIT OFFER FROM BRITISH GAS

The safest and quickest way to charge the lithium-ion battery of your Nissan LEAF is for British Gas, Nissan's Home Charging Partner, to install a dedicated Home Charging Unit. This unit is normally £115* (please click here for further details) but is free to Retail and Motabilty customers ordering a Nissan LEAF before the end of September**.

 

The charging station optimises the communication between LEAF and the terminal and fully charges the Nissan LEAF in approximately 8 hours. Should you wish to upgrade to the 6.6kW on board charger, a full charge from empty using a 30A Home Charging Unit will take approximately 4 hours. Installation of the home charging unit will be completed by a British Gas electrician.

CHARGE ON THE GO

RAPID CHARGING YOUR NISSAN LEAF ON THE GO

Nissan are constantly increasing the number of rapid charging stations where you can easily charge your Nissan LEAF battery from 0% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

 

The Rapid Charger Network in the UK is growing fast. Many service stations such as Welcome Break have had these installed already. Other places include Nissan Dealerships, IKEA, Waitrose and various other locations.

 

Nissan recommend the use of the Ecotricity Electric Highway as it is free and provides access to a wide range of Rapid Chargers to help you on those longer journeys where you may need a quick charge. For more information on the Ecotricity Electric Highway please see here.
